Waxing Hair Removal Treatment
Waxing is probably the second oldest form of body hair removal treatment; the first one is the sugaring method, which predates waxing by a good number of years.
The Waxing Process Is Simplistic Enough
- You apply wax to a particular area of the body
- Place an adhesive strip (made of cloth of thick paper) on the waxed skin and
- Pull the strip off, removing the hair in that area
However simplistic the process seems, there are actually a lot of guidelines to follow. Otherwise, you will be setting yourself up for a whole lot of pain. And this is especially true if you are applying the wax on your back: the most sensitive part of the integumentary system (otherwise known as the skin.)
Guidelines To Follow
One: Who Should Not Use the Waxing Hair Removal Treatment
There are some people who should not use the wax hair removal system on their backs, particularly:
- Diabetics
- People prone to varicose veins
- People taking certain medications and
- Those with damaged or blemished skins on their backs
If you are unsure, your best course is to ask your doctor or better yet, your dermatologist if whether you could undergo wax hair removal treatment.
Two: Read product labels
There are cold wax treatments and hot wax treatments available in the market. Whichever you choose to use is really a matter of personal preference. Read the instructions on the container or box thoroughly before applying any wax on your skin. Take particular note on what the directions of use are. No two wax products have the same implicit instructions, so it would be best to read product labels thoroughly if you plan to switch products.
Three: Ask for help
If you are doing this at home, it is advisable that you ask someone to help you out. For one thing, applying wax on your back is difficult enough, but applying the adhesive strip and pulling it off your back would be very difficult on your own.
Four: Do a skin test first
Also, you need to first test the wax on one part of you skin, just to ensure that you are not allergic to the wax you are using – a small patch on your leg or arm will suffice.
Testing the wax is particularly important if you are using hot wax hair removal system. You need to make sure that the wax is warm enough for application, but is not too hot that it will actually burn your skin.
Five: Follow instructions on the product label implicitly
And as per instructions, you should apply wax on a small strip of skin first. You should never apply it to your entire back all at once, and hope to literally rip out all offending hairs. Unless you have a particular need to be in agonizing pain for the next few days, this is not a particularly smart move.
- The wax should be laid out in the direction in which the follicles develop. A piece of cloth or any strip used for wax hair removal serves as your adhesive strip, and you should be used this to cover that strip of wax you had placed. You pull the strip in the opposite direction of the follicle growth. To minimize pain, you should pull the strip fast and against the skin; never pull the strip upward or using an outward motion.
The wax hair removal system can actually ensure that you will have between two to six weeks of hair-free back. Results vary from one individual to the other.
Six: When all else fails…
When all else fails, you can always head on out to the local spa or waxing salon for a very professional service. |
